Busy is when…
•It takes less than 2 minutes to eat lunch because you are walking to the next appointment OR it takes over 2 hours to eat lunch because you nibble at it between appointments.
•When deciding on dinner, you opt for cereal because heating up a meal will take 4 minutes in the microwave, then 2 minutes to cool down, and that is 6 minutes too many to spare.
•You stop putting a date stamp on your non-urgent to-do list because you feel guilty when you realize that several months have passed before you even had time to cross something off.
•You don’t have time drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water, which actually turns out to your advantage because you don’t have time to walk down to the restroom. However, you worry a little because lack of water prevents your brain from floating.
•You hope the dry cleaner doesn’t give away your clothes you dropped off over a month ago.
•You hear your cell phone beep indicating that you have received a text message and you hope it isn’t urgent because you have someone standing at your desk, your work phone is ringing, and your computer is pinging as emails come in and reminds you that you should be at a meeting.
•You start to cry because you are so grateful when someone offers to do something as simple as your laundry.
•You don’t really see anyone you live with because they are asleep when you leave the house and are already in bed when you arrive home.
•Others try to strike up a conversation with you about a current movie and you haven’t even see the previews for it, not to mention that you probably haven’t even heard of it.
•The late night security guard doesn’t remind you to turn out the lights when you leave the office because he sees you so often that you already know the expectation.
•You wish you had a personal assistant to fill up your car with gas and act as chauffer so you can continue to work while traveling.
•You miss your dentist appointment and don’t have time to make the phone call to reschedule.
•You truly understand the idiom “burning the candle at both ends” because that is your lifestyle.
•You plan your business professional wardrobe around how many hours you can be comfortable in that particular outfit. It has to be comfortable for greater than 18 hours.
•You are too busy to explain your definition of “busy” when others ask.
