enjoy.
Some people should really give up their careers and go to college.
Also, probably don't sign up for month to mouth contracts. sounds iffy to me.
I leave in less than two weeks on a trip with college colleagues. Yeah! In preparation, we are getting together for lunch a few days before we leave to discuss important travel topics. The lunch organizer recently sent out this email to the lunch group:
If there are any spouses, future or potential spouses, or sibling/spouses coming, we’d be happy to add them to the count as well.
In addition, the final list of discussion topics are in:
· Is Lady Luck a true random pick of people in our class?
· Does Tab actually taste good?
· Should we be paying rent to the college since we practically live here?
· How do you avoid bed bugs at 5 star hotels around the world
Please come with a 2 page write-up of one of the above points.
In response, another colleague wrote:
In addition to bed bugs, someone needs to write a one page (front and back) report on a more personal topic. Given the long flights we all will be taking, someone needs to research and write up the etiquette associated with passing gas while on the plane. Recycled air is bad enough without the inclusion of personal emissions.
Dear Mr. Handsome,
These assigned seats are to my disadvantage. 1) I can’t change locations so that I can work my way towards your seat and 2) I remain distracted in my current location due to your current location…you are between my chair and the professor’s PowerPoint. OK, OK, so I don’t really mind a good-looking distraction. If fact, I look forward to it. I especially look forward to when someone asks a question from my side of the room so that you turn around.
I could tell you were trying to talk to me today. I noticed when you wandered by my seat several times, even though it is out of your way. And I certainly noticed when you were hanging around the group of people I sat with during lunch. You’re going to have to step up your game though. I mean, another classmate brought me a gift today and he said he picked it out because it matched my laptop. He also helped me one-on-one when I had questions about class work. Granted, he does sit directly in front me, so his current assigned seat is somewhat to his advantage.
I hope I broke the ice when I chatted with you briefly during a break. I’ll take my time packing up my things when class is over today. Stop by.
Until then,
Me
Dear Mr. Handsome,
I am trying to concentrate on the professor’s power point, but I seem to be distracted by the back of your head. Did I mention you have really nice hair? A little tousled, but just enough to be cute. Anyhow, I wonder if you might try slouching or shifting slightly so that I can focus on what the professor is teaching. His information will certainly show up on a midterm or final exam. Did I mention that you smelled really good when you passed by me earlier when we were on a class break? In any case, if you just move slightly to the left, the guy sitting in the row between us would block you from my view and I might pay attention long enough to figure out how the professor created that graph and how to interpret this yield curve. And yes, I did notice how you spent most of the class break sitting directly in front of my assigned seat. Were you really there to chat with that guy or should I have stayed in my own chair so that I could introduce myself? I mean, there aren’t many single people in our class…what, something like five or six out of the 68 total classmates?
Oh! You just slouched down enough to be blocked by the guy in the plaid shirt.
Wait, we are now learning about bonds and coupon rates?
If I shift my chair this way…ah, there you are….
Thanks for coming to class today,
Me
