The Haunting of the Ghost of Relationships Past

At the end of summer I met this guy who seemed interesting, funny, and was definitely flirting with me. Well, me and my ever-reserved-self downplayed the whole situation. Downplayed it until someone reprimanded me, “He tried to kiss you and you backed away? How old are you anyway?” After coming out from under my rock-o-shame, I thought “Sure, what could it hurt to have some fun?” Next time I was at his place, we did a little lip locking. It wasn’t too long after that we decided that the kissing games were over but we would remain friends. I know, I know, people always say that and it rarely happens. But here is the twist to the story: he takes classes at the same school that I attend. So we really do see each other often and pretend the whole lip locking never happened.
As Paul Harvey would say, here is the rest of the story. Fast forward to four months later: class registration has begun. And last month I found out that I couldn’t enroll in the classes I had originally planned to take. Wouldn’t you know that the only class I could enroll in was the class with my lip locking friend? Perfect. Then last week the class administrator started working on team assignments within the class. I wasn’t worried…what were the odds in a class of 50 students that my lip locking friend and I would be together?
On my chair this morning was a list of the teams. Team 9: my name, lip locking friend’s name. Oh snap! Here’s to a semester with me, my lip locking friend, and our little secret!
